Nuno Ferrand

Director of the Doctoral Program in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution (BIODIV), organized by the University of Porto and Lisbon, funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT). He is also a professor at the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, where he teaches genetics and evolution.

Nuno’s areas of interest include the study of evolutionary biology, particularly in patterns of genetic diversity of natural species, ecology, conservation, domestication and speciation. He has published over 150 SCI articles and authored three books, editor four books, and wrote eleven book chapters.

In addition, he is the Director of the Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Porto (MHNC-UP), where he is currently leading an in-depth restructuring operation to create a new museum focusing on an innovative philosophical philosophy, in partnership with the Portuguese.
