Paulo Azevedo

Paulo has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and an MBA from Porto Business School.

He was CEO of several companies, including the Sonae Group of Companies for 12 years.

He is currently Chairman of Sonae, Tafisa, Sonae Capital, Sonae Arauco, Efanor and BAGLass.

Paulo holds several business related advisory roles including member of the Advisory Board of Allianz and member of the ERT – European Roundtable of Industrialists —Steering Committee and chair of the “Jobs, Skills & Impact” working group.

In the past, he was also involved in several sectorial associations of companies, foundations, and the academic world, having been the first Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Porto University.

Currently, Paulo is dedicating more time to the protection of nature and biodiversity as well as social inclusion. He is the CEO of the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation, President of the Advisory Board of Espaço T and Chair of the Installation Committee of the Biopólis Association.
